Watercolors — landscapes

I build a landscape out of trees rather than out of a panorama. There is rarely a horizon line here — more often a single crown, an orchard in winter, the thickets left standing in a field once the leaves have gone.

Winter comes back most often, because only then is the drawing of the branches visible. The colour drops to cobalt and grey, and the snow is simply the white of the paper — in watercolour white is not painted in, it is planned and left alone.
