Watercolors — abstracts

These are plants that do not exist. I start from a wash that spread across wet paper on its own, and only afterwards give it a stem, a root or a bud — so here the shape comes before the idea.

They are closest to a plate from a botanical atlas, except that the species described is not real. This is the smallest group in the gallery and the slowest to grow, because it is hard to stop at the moment when the form has not yet begun to pretend to be anything.
