Winter suits watercolour for one reason: snow is the white of the paper, and white is not painted in. The whole job is to go around it.
The trees on both sides are dark and blurred, because in that kind of air they have no outline. The only two things with a definite shape are the figure in the green coat and the dog in mid-leap — and that is enough to stop the empty white from being empty.
The falling snow is fine light specks flicked on after the ground had dried. Some of it is always chance, and chance cannot be repeated.
