Dense white-grey spikes stand upright side by side, filling the whole background with a soft fur. In front of them are drawn cobalt seed umbels — a thin sharp line ending in small pale beads.
This is the same meadow as the earlier winter one, only closer and in stronger colour. There everything was misty; here the plants are distinct and hard as wire.
Cobalt on white is a combination hard to ruin but easy to over-sweeten. What held it back was the rough texture of the spikes, laid with a thick brush.
