A large rounded form stands on a short blue stem in the middle of a field made of thousands of small pale blue strokes. Its surface is covered with dense dark veining over an olive-gold ground — a drawing like a leaf held up to the light.
At the top the form is open. Inside, small blue grains lie packed close together.
I did not plan the title before painting; it arrived on its own. A shape that carries something smaller inside it and is heavier than everything around needs no other name.
The field of small strokes creates a sense of movement — as if everything around were trembling and the form alone stood still.
Oil on canvas, 100 × 100 cm. This work has been sold; it stays in the archive to show where the paintings available today came from. Similar motifs are in the oil painting gallery.
