Oil painting: silver-grey spherical forms in a white cellular net on thin stems, on a turquoise ground with running paint

Five silver-grey forms on thin stems, each wrapped in a white net of irregular cells. They stand on a turquoise ground down which paint runs in broad vertical bands to a greenish base.

The turquoise is loud here and was deliberately left so — I wanted a colour that does not pretend to be nature but admits to being paint. The silver of the forms only works against that.

The net on the surface is a constant motif in my work: a way of making something round stop being a solid and start being an organism.

The large vertical format needs a free wall and distance — up close you see the technique, from two metres the composition.

Oil on canvas, 120 × 100 cm. This work has been sold; it stays in the archive to show where the paintings available today came from. Similar motifs are in the oil painting gallery.
