Eight leafless trees arranged radially in a circle, crowns outward, trunks towards the centre. Where they meet, a white light glows.
I painted each tree separately, with the full drawing of its branching — the further from the trunk, the thinner the line, down to hair-fine tips. Only setting them in a circle turns eight landscapes into a single ornament.
This is not a mandala in any religious sense. What interested me was what happens when something naturally irregular is placed in perfect symmetry — and it turns out it stops being a tree and becomes a pattern.
Cool blue and symmetry make this a very calm work, good for a room meant to quieten.
