A black ground and two turquoise tubular forms that cross in the middle of the canvas. Where they meet, the net covering their surface turns a bright acid green — as if something had heated up at the point of contact.
Behind them, in the depth, stand three paler forms of the same kind. They take no part; they watch.
This is the only painting in the set where something happens quickly. My other works stand still; this one is in motion and ends in a touch that could be an attack or a greeting.
The black of the ground is deep and matt, so the turquoise comes forward strongly. The painting needs good light.
Oil on canvas, 100 × 100 cm. This work has been sold; it stays in the archive to show where the paintings available today came from. Similar motifs are in the oil painting gallery.
