A light, cheerful botanical composition set against a clean white plane of paper: grey, pearl spikes made of small discs grow from below, and between them float lime and celadon circles like ripe fruit lit through by the sun. At the center, on a slender twig, rests a tiny figure in a pink dress — the quiet hero of this lazy, summery scene. I build the image with transparent glazes and blooms on wet paper, where the green sometimes thickens and sometimes dissolves into a milky glow.
The work breathes calm and unforced joy, and its raw white and fresh greens will beautifully brighten a living room, dining room, or workspace.
