A girl in a high stride leaps from stone to stone, one hand catching her balance in the air — her whole figure built from a few confident, blue-grey patches of paint. Around her stretches a flat sheet of water, painted in horizontal, blurred bands of pale blue and grey, with stones scattered in darker graphite. I closed the upper part of the composition with a soft, olive-green band of shore, leaving a luminous strip of untouched paper between it and the water. Wet, sparing glazes and the white of the ground build the impression of cool morning air and suspended motion.
This is a quiet, poetic watercolor for a bedroom, a study, or a space for yoga and meditation.
