Elongated, leaf-like forms are filled with a mosaic of flares in honey, ripe orange, and dark ochre, where each spot blooms with a bright center like a small sun. The paint worked freely here on heavily dampened paper, leaving characteristic lacy edges and graphite deposits along the borders. Thin, dark stem lines cross the composition vertically and bring order to this vigorous material, while a few black dots and a small touch of blue complete the whole. The mood is warm, autumnal, and full of light, though the ground remains mostly untouched white.
