A narrow, still-closed bud rises vertically against a cool, misty sky in shades of steel and pale blue. I keep sharpness only along the elongated veins of the bud scales, so the fine down on their edges is visible, while the whole background dissolves into a soft, watercolor blur. At the base of the bud the first narrow leaves are opening — a small sign that the turn toward spring is just breaking. The mood is raw, quiet and full of anticipation, like a March morning before sunrise. The print suits interiors in a cool, grey-blue palette: an entryway, a bedroom, a wall above a console table.
I photograph on the wild meadows of Warsaw. These are plants considered weeds. Often unnoticed, yet look how beautiful they are.
