At the top of the bare, swollen goat's-beard stem only a handful of seeds remain, each with its tuft of down, spread out like the thin arms of a windmill. July light falls from the side and outlines the bright edge of the stem, while the dark, near-black background reduces everything to a pure, calligraphic line. Sharpness holds only the silhouette of the plant, so the frame reads like a pen drawing on navy paper. The minimalism of the composition and the empty space around it give a sense of silence after flowering has ended. The print works beautifully paired with a second, lighter photograph from this series above a bed or sofa.
I photograph on the wild meadows of Warsaw. These are plants considered weeds. Often unnoticed, yet look how beautiful they are.
