I photograph on the wild meadows of Warsaw. I build the image on contrast: the pale, chalky surface of the cone forms a regular, honeycomb-like grid, while the narrow dark gaps between the plates draw it like an engraving. Below, slender, sharply tapering sheath leaves emerge, and in the background, blurred greenery of side branches and a cool, steel-blue glow.
These are plants considered weeds. Often overlooked, yet look how beautiful they are. The effect is paradoxical — a common field plant looks like a fragment of mineral or an exotic fruit.
