The more I get to know plants, the more similarities to animals I see in them. They are often hairy, they have instinct. Many of them are predatory.
That is why this painting came about, on which botanical zebras grow. Golden, feathery grasses interweave with black and white, striped forms, whose rhythm brings to mind exotic, animal patterns. I like their black and white pattern and their downiness very much.
That is why they grew on my meadow. I play out the contrast of warm gold and cool turquoise, which shows through in the background like a scrap of sky. Energetic, vertical brush strokes give the composition movement and decorative lightness.
A modern, expressive painting will perfectly enliven the bright interior of a living room or a boho style space.
