Dark, navy-graphite thickets stand on both sides of the frame like sentries of a frosty day, and between them opens a narrow, luminous space the color of pale cream. I let the paint work on wet paper — in the dense patches you can see the pigment's granulation, turquoise sparks, and white scrapes recalling frost.
Against the luminous mist stands a delicate, leafless shrub with brown twigs dusted with small buds, and the lower part of the composition is closed by cool, blue-grey snow. A restrained, quiet landscape that will bring the atmosphere of a winter afternoon into a living room or hallway.
