Two elongated leaves are filled with deep turquoise, in which the water still seems to be at work — the color moves from a pale edge to an intense azure, exploding at the tip into a black, velvety stain of ink.
Thin, translucent veins were lifted out of the wet paint, giving the impression of a leaf backlit from behind. On the right stand two grey, round seed heads with tousled, calligraphic little roots, painted in a cool, leaden tone.
The pairing of vivid turquoise with graphite and the pure white of the paper is spare and very modern. The piece will look great in a minimalist living room, bedroom, or study.
