A great, round crown, awash in deep sepia and blazing orange, dominates the composition, its interior filled with dark, self-forming speckles that emerged on wet paper.
A thin, copper stem brings all that weight down, into a bright, almost white space lit by the most delicate glazes of pink and heather violet. The lower parts of the piece are light, lace-like inflorescences and slanted, pastel streaks that balance the intensity above.
The contrast between the rusty, expressive stain and the clear, airy rest of the sheet gives an effect that is surprisingly joyful and full of movement. The piece fits perfectly into a bright Scandinavian interior, in a hallway or above a desk, wherever one warm, expressive accent is needed.
