A frosty landscape rendered in cool greys and intense cobalt: in a milky mist delicate, barely marked tree trunks and twigs are drawn, and lower down patches of icy blue spread out. Among them a small flock of birds has settled, with black silhouettes and olive-yellow wings — the only warm accents in this winter silence. I work the paint here on wet paper, letting the color mark the borders of pools and snowy stains on its own, and leave the brightest areas as clean, luminous white paper.
The piece delights with the lightness and clarity of its glazes, in which winter seems at once raw and tender. It finds its place beautifully in a bright, minimalist interior, a bedroom, or a quiet study.
