The square frame is entirely filled with a fragment of the physalis's translucent lantern husk, backlit so that every vein of its net-like structure is visible. The photograph is kept in a monochromatic blue — from cornflower-colored veins to almost white fields between them — giving the plant the character of delicate, frosty lace.
The focus covers the whole surface, so the eye can wander over the soft folds of the curled membrane as if over a map. The absence of background and scale turns the botanical detail into an abstract pattern.
This is a piece for bright, orderly interiors, great alongside other square prints.
The photographs are printed on professional, archival papers in limited editions. You can order other size. Print size 30 × 30 cm.
