I had no intention of painting a virus when this picture was coming into being. I wanted to create an abstract botanical form, but my first reviewer - my husband, said that it resembles a virus. Out of a turquoise depth there emerges a gray, cellular structure, from which grow white, fine, root like branchings — a painterly vision of the microworld of nature.
I set an organic, almost biological motif against a cool, saturated turquoise, obtaining a modern, hypnotizing effect. Precisely painted, branching lines contrast with the soft, luminous background.
I could not, however, paint an evil virus, because this one can infect only with love. This is a bold, botanical and abstract painting for an interior of modern, artistic character.
