In winter the trees are probably cold too. Nothing shelters them from the wind, they no longer have leaves. So I lead out three slender, silvery gray trunks against horizontal, undulating bands of blue, which pass from deep navy to a cool white.
So I dressed them in little furs and chose their color so that they would look prettier against the blue sky and the white snow. Soft transitions of color and the delicate texture of the bark build a mood of calm and reverie.
The simplified, almost graphic composition recalls the silence of a winter day above a frozen sheet of water. This is a landscape sparing in means, yet full of atmosphere — cool, elegant and quieting. The vertical format and subdued palette make it a perfect choice for a bedroom, a dining room or a modern, minimalist interior.
