I lead slender, cobalt leaf shapes out from the bottom of the canvas, and upwards climb thin, branching stems crowned with green, spherical fruits. Seeds have to tear themselves away from the mother plant in order to look for new territories and put down roots there. The wind helps them greatly on this journey.
The whole floats for me against a cloudy, blue pearl sky, which the painterly texture scatters into soft streaks, and the composition is light and full of movement, as if the botanical forms were really being rocked by the wind of the title.
Children too one day leave home. It is not easy for parents, who do not want to be left alone. Perhaps grown plants would also rather keep their little seeds close by?
The cool palette of blues broken with fresh green gives the work a cheerful, breathing character. This is a painting that will bring calm and space into a modern living room or a bright bedroom.
