Mycology is the science that studies fungi. These are amazing and omnipresent organisms, very diverse, sometimes useful, sometimes dangerous.
I am delighted by their most varied shapes and colors. This painting is about them. I magnified them to the size of trees in my imagination, because they are often tiny and we do not notice their beauty.
A row of fanciful, fairy-tale trees grows out of a band of fiery, orange grass, and their crowns take the shape of plump spheres. The two largest, graphite blue, are strewn with bright dots like mushroom caps, and beside them stand slenderer, openwork little trees in shades of beige and gray.
A warm, sandy background lights the scene with soft light, and thin, silvery trunks give the whole a fairy-tale lightness. The combination of cool blues with heated orange creates a cheerful and somewhat surrealist mood. This is a decorative painting, which will enliven a modern living room or a cozy interior with a fireplace.
