On a meadow there are a great many downy plants. In the wind many of them tear away from their stalks and fly about, spreading seeds in this way.
At a high density they resemble a flock of sheep. So across a juicy green, grassy plane I scatter a flock of downy, silvery blue spheres, and among them several deep, velvety black forms stand out.
Among plants, not all individuals are pure and good, some of them are true black sheep. The composition plays out rhythmically, like a meadow seen from above, full of soft, furry tufts, building an absorbing play of scale and depth.
I build these forms with small, radiating brush strokes, contrasting cool blue with the warm, vibrating green of the background. This is a bold, monumental work of great decorative power and with a slightly metaphorical title. The enormous format makes it the central point of a spacious, modern living room or a representative interior.
