When dawn comes and it grows a little brighter on the meadow the plants wake and begin their activities. They recognize new individuals which have only just grown. Plants communicate in various ways. Most often by means of chemical signals, but also by way of vibrations.
This pair has only just woken. Two translucent, blue seed heads on thin stems lean towards one another like a couple in a quiet greeting in the morning. They are very young and delicate.
In the background there stretches a misty, waterside landscape in cool grays, broken by a warm, pink peach afterglow of the rising sun. Dark, dotted bulrushes and reeds create a delicate counter for the luminous, almost glassy forms of the foreground. What will become of their feeling? Will it survive, or only until evening? We shall see
This is a poetic, atmospheric painting with a quieted palette, which will bring into a living room or a study an atmosphere of calm and the subtle melancholy of dawn.
